TEACHER JOYCE

Born into a musical family, Joyce started lessons on the piano and the violin at the age 3 at the Yamaha Music School and was accepted into the NAFA School of Young Talents after achieving her Grade 8 in Violin. She holds an her LTCL in Performance from the

Trinity College of London

 

Joyce is both an experienced violin teacher and performer. Over the last 10 years, she has taught students of various ages and levels.

 

She has received a performing scholarships with the Australian International Summer Orchestra Institute (AISOI) in 2006 and 2007 as well as from the European Youth

Orchestra. An outstanding student at Suzuki Music School, Joyce was selected to attend masterclasses by Mr Yasuki Nakamura (Hon. President of Suzuki Music

School).

 

In 1993, Joyce was awarded the top  prize in the Junior Category at the 9th National Music Competition organized by the National Arts Council. There was no 1st prize for that category that year.

 

Joyce enjoys performing since young and was part of the violin ensemble that performed for Senior Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew during the National Tribute dinner. 

 

She has also performed with the NAFA Orchestra and String Ensemble and is currently an active member of the TPO (The Philharmonic Orchestra), a project initiated by Maestro Lim Yau (resident conductor, SSO). As an active performer, Joice has had the privilege of working under the baton of well-known conductors including Lim Yau, Chan Tze Law (Associate Director of Singapore's Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music) , Peter Esswood (Head of Strings, Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama) , Leo Philips, Geoffrey Lancaster and Volker Hartung (Resident Conductor of NAFA) .
